Documentary DVD combining live footage, still shots, and rare audio recordings to tell the story of Lake Placid, the little village that hosted two Olympic Games. Directed, written and filmed by Marc Nathanson. 83 minutes.
In the annals of the Winter Olympics, their names are legendary; their
feats without equal. Stroll through the tiny village of Lake Placid and
you'll pass the speed skating oval where Eric Heiden won a record five
gold medals in 1980, and the Olympic Center, site of the U.S. Hockey
Team's Miracle on Ice. Just down the road sits the bobsled track where
Lake Placid skeleton racer Jim Shea trained to win gold in 2002,
seventy years after his grandfather Jack won two golds in speed skating.
Featuring never-before-seen footage and rare audio recordings, Lake Placid: An Olympic History is the story of America's Winter Sports Capital – where the spirit of the Olympics lives on, every day.
